Number 1. They revert to what worked previously
Narcissists need control and when they feel it being taken away from them, they will go back to the behaviors which initially attracted your attention or affection. These might be love-bombing you with compliments, charm, or reassurances that things will get better. They may send you bittersweet messages reminding you of “the good times” and attempting to reassure you that you’re being paranoid about nothing.
