Yang Sanpaku: The Predator Stare

Yang sanpaku is the predatory stare of the narcissist. This is what you witness in narcissists, psychopaths, and sociopaths, the ones who smile in your face while planning your demise behind your back. Yang sanpaku is when you can see the white of the eye over the iris; it means the iris appears as though it’s below in the socket, surrounded by a lot of white space that’s visible. It’s unnatural, asymmetrical, and menacing.

It’s the predator’s gaze, the gaze of one who stares at you as though trying to connect with you. They never blink, never soften their eye, never dilate their pupils when you discuss something emotional. No mirroring, no warmth of nature, just scanning, as if psychically dissecting you into pieces, waiting for a crack to slip through and take over.

This is the gaze of an individual like Ted Bundy, Charles Manson, and Jeffrey Dahmer. Look at their mug shots and interviews; you will see the same: the dead, cold, psychopathic stare with that space above the iris. That is yang sanpaku.

The incredible thing about it is that this is common in most narcissists, particularly the subtle ones, the metaphysical ones, the “I am just brutally honest” ones. Observe their eyes when they get angry or when they’re emotionally shut down; you’ll often discover that an upward sanpaku look. Not by coincidence, it is the predation energy coming through their eyes. Their physical self knows it, their soul knows it, and it betrays itself every time.
