Trick Number 1: Energetic Stalking
You see, suppose you have been trying to emotionally distance yourself from the narcissist because you got tired of giving him/her a lot of chances. So, you started talking less to him/her. You may have left and decided not to interfere in his/her life. All of sudden, you find that he/she gets in your head 24/7. We call it rumination.
So you dream about them. You constantly find yourself checking his/her social media feed. You have random thoughts of them despite your effort to distract yourself.
It is called energetic stalking.
See, narcissists can control us not just with words and behavior, but through energy too. And when they realize that they start losing control over us, they tend to obsessively think about us, visualize reaching out to us, etc., in such a way that makes you aware of their intentions.
Whether it’s negative or even evil manifestation, it works anyway. Believe me, I’ve seen cases where it took place. Especially when we talk about an intuitive or sensitive person, he/she definitely picks up on it and starts doubting him/herself.
Moreover, if this trick fails, they use another weapon: memories of good times. For example, they continue adding music to a playlist you may still have together on Spotify to trigger your emotions.

Trick Number 2: Pseudo Admission
You see, there is a specific type of narcissist known as a psychopathic narcissist (or a malignant narcissist). They can admit their faults, but in such a way that you’d stick with them. You see, they know that you’ve been eagerly waiting for them to take some responsibility. Thus, they hold that card in hand for later.
Here’s how they may try to manipulate you:
“Oh, I know I wasn’t the best partner. I’ve made a lot of mistakes. And now, I see that.”
Suddenly, you drop your guard and allow yourself to hope that finally something changed. But that’s what they want you to think. They want you to believe that a miracle happened and that the sun rose in the west. They lure you to their lies and convince you to change your mind despite all the intuition telling you otherwise.
Right after they admit their mistakes, they throw a twist into the game saying:
“But I acted like that because I was hurt, traumatized, and needed your help. If only you were more understanding, it could have all turned out differently! I just loved you so much – I couldn’t stand being with you!”
All of this, said in such a pitiful voice that makes us want to comfort them, leaves you absolutely powerless. This is no apology. These are just some traps meant to lure you back to them.
