7 Things a Narcissist’s Demonic Spirit Does When it FEARS You

Number 1: Mocking Your Spirituality

When a narcissist mocks your spirituality, what they are doing is striking the connection that threatens to liberate you. They know, consciously or unconsciously, that your spirituality makes you more difficult to control because as soon as you identify yourself with something greater than yourself, they lose their hold on you. They do not mock it because it is humorous; they mock it because it scares them. They do not know peace.

They just don’t know holy devotion, and they surely don’t know what it means to walk with God. But they do know, for certain, that all of that is a threat in a crowd. So, they attempt to defile it, misrepresent it, and ridicule it. They desire your walk with the divine to be shameful, ridiculous, or even hazardous. That is the enemy, because when you accept those lies, you will dull your light just to avoid being hurt.

I have been there. When I embraced spirituality, my father, the primary narcissist in my life, revealed an anger I had never previously known. It was as though something within him was warring with me, as if my prayers were daggers to his complacency. He not only disagreed with me; he attacked me as if I were injuring him. He destroyed my prayer beads like they were contaminated things. He incinerated my books like they were a danger to him.

He would rage at me without cause, stalk my online presence constantly, and search through my phone for anything even vaguely spiritual. When he got his hands on something, he would implode. He would publicly belittle me, jeer at my beliefs, and mock me like I was a lunatic fool. He thought that he was the one who was obligated to shame me, particularly in front of others, like my religion was a jest.

In the end, I had to suppress that part of me, to shrink, remain silent, and act as if I was not growing, because whenever I showed even the smallest indication of my unfolding from the inside out, he would get upset with me as if I was doing something evil. That is what their spirit hungers for. Not you together. Not you empowered. It doesn’t want you to be free, because you see, if you were free, you would leave, and they know it very well.
