Narcissists often have a hard time being with people who are not loyal; they crave loyalty from others but can’t give it back. And they need someone who will be there for them, no matter what, and never leave them or abandon them.
Also, they need someone who will support their grandiose ideas, even if those ideas are completely insane. Narcissists are people who have a lifelong pattern of using other people for their own needs and desires.
And they don’t care who they hurt or what they have to do to get what they want; they’re also very arrogant and think they’re better than everyone else. So, it’s not surprising that they believe everyone should be loyal to them; when you aren’t, it hurts them deeply.
Number 6: They are addicted to you because you’re selfless.
Narcissists are often drawn to kind and compassionate people, so we get many questions about why narcissists are attracted to certain types of people. When narcissists find a selfless and giving partner, they feel struck gold. They know that their partner will be willing to provide them with whatever they need from them, even if it means sacrificing their own needs.
This can be especially true for codependent or have low self-esteem. You’re a great person to be around because you’re selfless. They are addicted to you because you’re always helping them out, and they can’t help but want to take advantage of that.
Also, they are selfish people who want to feel important and special, but they don’t know how to do it independently. So instead, they look for people who will make them feel important and give them the attention they crave.
