Number 10: Don’t give in to their demands or expectations.
They are known to be manipulative and controlling; they want to ensure you’re doing what they want you to do. And if you don’t comply with their demands, they will try to manipulate you into changing your mind. Suppose you find yourself packed into a corner by a narcissist who wants something from you but won’t take no for an answer.
In that case, one of the best ways to deal with it is to tell them that you are not interested in whatever they’re asking for. Stick with your guns and refuse to give in, so they’ll eventually get tired of pursuing. Setting healthy boundaries is one of the most selfless things we can do for ourselves. Be clear about your boundaries and why they matter so much to you.
If they disagree with your limits, walking away from the conversation is okay. You don’t have to justify yourself or explain yourself. Make them regret by not giving in to their demands and expectations. Nobody deserves to be abused or mistreated, but if it does happen to you, don’t lose hope about the future.
Using these strategies, you can make a narcissist regret everything they’ve done to you. Break free of your grip and make them regret it. Make yourself a priority, don’t let them back into your life.
